The Prambanan is a spectacular temple complex. It is located 17 km east of Yogyakarta and is the largest temple in Java.

This temple is a Hindu temple and has three main temples dedicated to Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. Due to an earthquake in 2006 it is unfortunately no longer possible to walk through the temples. On the buildings you can see a lot of details and figures.

The temple was built in the 9th century as a Hindu response to the Borobudur. Because of the rise of Islam in the area, the temple fell into decay. Even today, the debris is still on the site. It is advisable to hire a guide, so that the building comes to life.
